Mountain Falls history – the condensed version. Lake Toxaway was founded in 1895 and quickly blossomed into a favorite vacation spot for wealthy families. The low humidity, stunning scenery and fresh air earned the area the title “Switzerland of America”. The very land Mountain Falls sits on was owned by Singer Sewing Machines until the mid 1900s before it was sold to Duke Power during the build of the massive Keowee-Toxaway hydroelectric project. In 2000, Marathon Coach arrived on the scene, and, inspired by what they saw, would design the first luxury motorcoach resort ever located in a mountain range. Today, we call it Mountain Falls and some of those original owners still call it home.
Class A Through And Through
We are proud to be one of America’s premier Class A motorcoach resorts. All owners and guests must arrive with a Class A motorcoach that is at least 26’ in length. Additionally, coaches that are more than 10 years old are subject to inspection prior to admittance. If you are unsure whether or not your motorcoach will qualify, please contact the Hospitality Team at 828-579-4678 before making a reservation.
